Fristil is a concert series featuring experimental and improvised jazz. I imagined the typography as a row of musicians improvising and working their instruments, beginning with a recognizable theme then gradually shifting their tone and rhythm in unison until a new theme emerges. At the end the music is set free by the players. The posters were screenprinted by hand and I added color for every print, resulting in 60 different posters. Some beautiful, others psychedelic and unreadable -much like the music itself.
